CASTLE DOME
Arizona
In the late 1870's Mexican miners prospected the Castle Dome district and established several mining claims. Several of these mines were re-worked in the early 1900's.

Castle Dome is a mining district off of Highway 95, between Quartzsite and Yuma.

Residents have established a museum and a ghost town.

There are several mines still working in the area, and this 16 foot shaft in the ghost town.

The ghost town also documents the lives of local miners.

The cabin below has the names of military veterans who have visited inscribed on the walls, including mine!

Safe below holds silver from the mines. The price is so low, it is not cost effective to work many claims.

Castle Dome jail!

A special thanks to Gary R. Hovatter Colonel, Infantry, U.S. Army (Retired) Information & Education Program Manager Region IV Arizona Game & Fish Department who let us know about Castle Dome.
